Smith was released to parole in August 2004, with a projected discharge date of May 23, 2009. The state of Mississippi accepted transfer of Smiths supervision pursuant to the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision. Smith absconded from Mississippi supervision, however, and his Wisconsin parole agent, Nicole Patterson, issued an apprehension request.
